THE ROAD TO CAMBODIA

Welcome to our newest & exciting VMT tour working in conjunction with our Cambodian counter parts .  THE ROAD TO Cambodia  14 days - 2190km  . Ride Vietnam & Cambodia, this crossborder adventure explores regions rarely seen by the outside.
we ride beyond the map! This trip is also sutiable for riders with pillions .  95% of this tour is on good paved roads . overnight stays in the most incredible loctions . this fully supported tour is jammed

Day 1
Nha Trang to Mui Ne  = 240km

Good morning Nha Trang!. after a great night meeting our fellow riders at the VMT welcome dinner & rider briefing. followed by good night sleep in our very welcoming hotel, this picture perfect seaside town is a
great location to kick-start the day.

Checked out of our hotel, we transfer across to the VMT HQ to meet ourawaiting steeds, ready for our adventure.  We ride south on the GreatOcean road offering jaw dropping views, riding down past Cam Ranh bay &the postcard perfect Vinh Hy, lunch with spectacular ocean views, thistwisty road is carved into the rocky ocean outcrops. passing smallvillages and stretches empty windswept coastline, huge wind turbines.massive sand-dunes that sometimes reclaims the the road .afternoon has us rolling into the chilled holiday town of Mui Ne, overnight stay at beach resort .
Day 2
Mui Ne - Tri An lake Dong Nha = 225km

Saddle up as the leave the coast & head for the hills, riding rural back roads through farmlands into the highlands offers a great insight into the simple way of life in rural Vietnam, heading towards Tri An Lake a secret beauty, its basically a hidden spot only the locals know about it.  Tri An lake has an area of 323 square kilometres. overnight stay with great views. welcome to the real Vietnam .
Day 3
Tri An Lake - Tay Ninh = 190km
Good Morning Vietnam! Helmets on, today has riding a range of small country back roads through rural landscapes & traditional villages .

Tay Ninh - Vietnam-Cambodia international border crossing - KampongThom  240km

Today has us crossing into the Cambodia via the Xa Mai border. Welcome to the Kingdom of Cambodia . We meet our awaiting Cambodian Guides & crew. swap over our luggage into our Cambodia support van .  We ride towards to Kampong Cham located on the mighty Mekong River. this will also be our lunch stop. its time to enjoy the flavors of Khmer food .
 
this part of the trip will be led by our Cambodia team . some of our VMTcrew will be joining us while the rest of the team will be heading upnorth to meet us for when we pop back into Vietnam.  After lunch we rideto Kampong Thom. overnight in a good hotel complete with a pool & bar :)
Day 5
Kampong Thom - Siem Reap = 185km
its a mainly straight road so we focus on getting to our next destination of Siem Reap, a resort town in Northwest Cambodia, Siem Reap is the gateway to the ruins on Angkor Wat . we have plenty of bum stops along the way to checkout some of the incredible stone carving businesses. yep! ... start with a huge rock and transform it into a statue master piece. We roll into Siem Reap & head to our little oasis, complete with a great pool & some welcoming chilled beverages, night
life in SR is jammed packed with bars,restaurants & night-markets. bar hop & explore the laneways

Day 6 : Siem Reap

Angkor temple complex is the largest religious site in the world, dating back to the 9th century, this is a truly unforgettable experience. We jump aboard some local Tuk Tuks & with our expert temple guide we take the journey out. there's heaps to see & a fair amount of
walking but well worth it, afternoon has as back at the hotel .. enjoy some R&R by the pool or head into town for a massage or explore the local markets, the choice is yours  " meanwhile our bikes are getting serviced to be ready to the next leg of adventure"

 
Day 7
Siem Reap - Preah Vinhear 150 km
Good Morning Siem Reap, we have a later start today we exit through the back-streets of Siem Reap. soon has us on the rural outskirts, surrounding farmland is rice-fields for as far as the eye can see, keep an eye out for wandering buffalo, we overnight in a hotel in the middle
of no-where, the welcoming pool & some chilled beverages to wind the day down. we see so much every minute of the day on these journeys, the evens are all about relaxing eating & some solid rest ready for another day of adventure

Day 8 Preah Vinhear - Kong Phapheng waterfalls - Stung Treng 190 km

By now you would have seen the many challenges that families living in rural Cambodia are faced . its a grounding experience to see firsthand, incredibly this country is full of smiles & your see lots of waving kids excited to see us .  on today's ride we divert to see the
amazing waterfalls on the Mekong.  its a dusty stretch of road both well worth the effort .  
late afternoon has a riding though a small village. to be greeted by a superb resort nestled on the banks on the Mekong, ourwooden bungalows complete private balcony & hammock to chill . the timber restaurant offers amazing sunset views & great bar & food to be had . this truly is a fantastic resort .
Day 9
Stung Treng - village walk- school visit - Mekong boat trip .. we are very close to Lao .
This place is so incredible lets stay for another night .  good morning relax, we head out to explore the local village.. they are very poor, be greeted by kids walking to school & locals going about their daily village life .. livestock wondering the dirt-street . we head over the
local school, say hello!  handout some gifts, such as school supplies and a heap of skipping ropes & soccer balls. we also do a catch up with the local commute chief .. to discuss issues faced in the village and
our endeavors to help!.

Lunch is back at the resort with time to chill before our afternoonboat-trip to explore the Mekong, enjoy another evening in this trulyamazing part of the world. did anyone mention a sunset drink overlookingthe Mekong.
Day 10
Stung Treng - Banlung 140km

We say our good byes to our friendly hosts, ride out through the village with plenty of waves from our village friends. We ride through Streng Trung city which lies at the confluence of the San,Kong, & Mekong rivers. the area around Stung Streng is inhabited by the mountain
Mon-Khmer, Valley Khmer, and Lao-Tai peoples, the main agricultural product in rice .  riding these rural back roads sure does give you a good insight into local way of life .  Banlung is the capital of Ratanakiri Province in Northeastern Cambodia . our overnight stay is at a stunning eco lodge with its Wooden French-Khmer design . great pool & restaurant . this resort is a bit like staying in a museum with a large array of artifacts & old black & white pictures
Back in the saddle we ride 80km towards our next border crossing back into Vietnam .  this all takes a bit of time . We say our goodbyes to our incredible Cambodian team & Gday to our awaiting VMT team.  we ride towards our next destination Pleiku . the landscape is noticeably different compared to Cambodia . Pleiku is the capital Gia Lai .   big

Good Morning Vietnam! ..  We ride the twisty mountain back roads & through valley floors, coloured landscapes of rice-crops. heading to our seascape you can feel the temp change! we arrive to sandy shore of Quy Nhon . a small town with a big history . overnight stay on the beach!
 
Day 13
Quy Nhon - Tuy Hoa 120km
The rugged coastline of Vietnam leaves lots to ridden and hidden pockets to explore and that just whats on the calendar today. Tuy Hoa is one of the less developed coastal cities in all of Vietnam . the main road into town was once a huge runway build by the US & as the locals call it . "the American War ".   grab a towel, hit the beach! catch wave .. this part of the coast consists of high mountains with steep walls, which
extend to the sea, sheltered coves & sandy beaches that stretch  from headland to headland

Day 14
Tuy Hoa - Nha Trang 210km

This is our final day ride with plenty to see . we ride is a mix of coastal back roads through small fishing villages & some straight highway, then as we edge closer to Nha Trang we follow a very nice stretch of elevated coast road that leads its way down into Nha Trang.
we arrive back at the VMT HQ . say thanks to our super trusty steeds & transfer across to our welcoming hotel with a pool &  short walk to the beach ..
