Nearly 20 Years of Adventure
Vietnam Motorbike Tours was founded in 2007 by Australian adventure rider and philanthropist
Jason Thatcher.
What began with Jason’s love of motorcycles, Vietnam and the open road has grown into one
of the country’s most established motorcycle touring businesses. As we approach our 20th
year, VMT continues to introduce riders from around the world to the spectacular roads,
cultures and communities found beyond Vietnam’s familiar tourist routes.
Vietnam Motorbike Tours is a family-owned and operated Australian–Vietnamese company.
We are fully registered and licensed, with our in-country operations based in Nha Trang and
international booking support provided through our Australian office.
Our tours are professionally organised and fully supported, but they remain personal. When
you ride with VMT, you become part of the family.
Jason and Trang
Jason has spent many years riding throughout Vietnam and across Southeast Asia, discovering
remote roads, mountain passes and rural communities rarely visited by international
travellers.
His philosophy has always been that a great motorcycle tour should offer more than kilometres
travelled. It should take riders beyond the map and provide a genuine connection with the
country, its culture and its people.
Jason’s wife, Trang, is VMT’s in-country manager. Her local knowledge, organisational
experience and understanding of Vietnam play an essential role in keeping our tours and daily
operations running smoothly.
Together, Jason and Trang have built VMT around friendship, reliability, local knowledge and
genuine Vietnamese hospitality

A memorable motorcycle adventure depends on the people behind it. Our experienced guides,
mechanics and support crew work together to keep every tour safe, enjoyable and running
smoothly.
Bao — Motorcycle Tour Guide
Bao has been with Vietnam Motorbike Tours almost from the beginning. A highly experiencedguide with an easygoing personality, Bao is loved by riders and has become an important partof the VMT family.
T.T. — Lead Motorcycle Guide
T.T. is one of VMT’s most experienced and well-known motorcycle guides. Having ridden
countless kilometres across Vietnam over many years, his road knowledge, riding ability and
friendly nature make him a favourite among returning guests.
Pop — Lead Motorcycle Guide
Pop is another of our highly valued lead guides. His riding experience, local knowledge and
ability to look after guests make him an important part of the VMT touring crew.
Lam — Support Guide
Lam works as one of our support guides, assisting the lead guides and helping ensure every
rider is looked after throughout the journey.
Hai — Lead Mechanic
Hai is one of VMT’s lead mechanics and an essential member of our touring team. His
mechanical knowledge and practical experience help keep our motorcycles performing
reliably, both at our base and out on the road.
Liz — Australian and International Booking Manager
Based in Australia, Liz manages our Australian and international bookings. She assists riders
with enquiries, tour arrangements and preparations, helping make the journey from first
contact to arriving in Vietnam as straightforward as possible.
Adventure with a Purpose
For Jason, Vietnam Motorbike Tours has always been about more than running motorcycle
adventures.
He is also the founder of Global Village Housing, a social enterprise supporting disadvantaged
families and remote communities across Vietnam and Cambodia. This cross-border work has
contributed to the construction of more than 700 homes, as well as schools, medical and
dental facilities, playgrounds and other community projects.
VMT has also supported wildlife protection and anti-trafficking initiatives working to protect
Vietnam’s rare and endangered animals.
A portion of the proceeds from our tours helps support this continuing work. When you ride
with Vietnam Motorbike Tours, your adventure also contributes to the people and communities
that welcome us along the way.
