We ride north through Nha Trang hugging the stunning coastline, a mix of main roads and country backroads through smaller villages, crossing some old wooden bridges. The afternoon has us rolling into a small fishing village. Overnight beachfront hotel. This small village offers a great insight into the simple way of life. Our host cooks a feast and plenty of chilled beverages to enjoy.

Sunrises here are often spectacular. Walk the beach and check out the local fishing boats coming in. Morning life in Vietnam starts early. We have an easy start today to enjoy this truly unique village. Our ride covers a nice mix of country backroads through local villages, leading us to Quy Nhon, a charming coastal city surrounded by mountains on three sides, with some of the most attractive beaches in Vietnam. Known as the "Happy City," life here is slow and laid-back, people are friendly, and the weather is nearly perfect. Quy Nhon is relatively prosperous with good infrastructure and impressive parks. Population 450,000. Our flash hotel offers great ocean views and a rooftop pool bar, with lots of great restaurants nearby.

Helmets on! Today’s ride takes us deeper into the real Vietnam.
Another great day in the saddle—from the tropical coast onto the snaky mountain pass, leading us through the clouds. At an altitude of 1,200 metres, Mang Den is small village town on a plateau in the Kon Tum province, Central Highlands. A mountainous location with abundant waterfalls and a national park.

Good morning Siem Reap.
Today feels like stepping into another world. Angkor Wat is the largest religious monument in the world. We jump aboard our fleet of Tuk Tuks to explore the magnificent collection of historical and religious structures within the Angkor Archaeological Park. The most famous is Angkor Wat. Other key temples include the Bayon, known for its serene stone faces, and the jungle-entwined Ta Prohm, "the Tomb Raider Temple." Our motorcycle fleet for Cambodia is our Honda Rallys, a great bike offering good comfort.
Day 8
Siem Reap - Stung Treng 310 km
Today we ride north on countryside backroads to a remote village resort outside of Stung Treng, located on the banks of the Mekong River with a beautiful vista across the mighty Mekong. Our ride takes us on a journey through remote villages and we pay a visit to some ancient ruins. These regions are mainly farmlands & rice fields. Village life in these parts can be a harsh existence.

Locals are very welcoming and we are greeted with waves & smiles. Later afternoon we ride over a large bridge that spans the mighty Mekong, not far from the Cambodia-Laos border. We enter a small traditional village where time has stood still and life is simple. We pass a village school which we will pay a visit to the next day—we have been funding some major renovations. Our overnight stay is in a beautiful timber resort and bungalows. Local food here is fresh and tasty. It’s one of my favorite stays in Cambodia. Sunset drinks on the restaurant deck are epic.
Day 9: 135 km
Stung Treng - Ratanakiri Ban Lung

Morning light across the Mekong, views from the bed, fishermen in homemade boats. We are treated to a great breakfast on the deck, then pay a visit to the village school before riding on towards our next destination Ban Lung, the capital of Ratanakiri province. Population of around 17,000. Riding a mainly straight road with no shortage of things to see, from locals going about their daily routine, homemade trucks & cars Mad Max style, scooters towing trailers up to 30 ft long. Yep, you heard that right! Villages often come to town to sell their goods. A few kilometres west of Ban Lung are the Katieng Waterfalls, where Ratanakiri’s last elephants are covered by a conservation programme. We arrive at the Terres Rouges Lodge, timber bungalows surrounded by tropical gardens and pool.
Day 10: 180 km
Ban Lung - Mondulkiri
This is a nice ride through the most sparsely populated province in the kingdom despite being the largest land area. Known for its forested hills, waterfalls and wildlife, home to elephants, tigers, leopards and Siamese crocodiles. We stop by some local villages. Afternoon has us arriving at our next digs on the outskirts of town. Eco bungalows and pool tick the boxes. This unique property has sheep and horses roaming free. The treehouse-designed restaurant and bar is awesome. It’s all about the experience, which this place delivers.

Today we head into the grim and darkest history of Cambodia under the hands of the cruel Khmer Rouge. Aboard our Tuk Tuks we head through the hustle & bustle of Phnom Penh out to the Killing Fields at Choeung Ek, a former orchard in Dangkao that was used as the Killing Fields between 1975 and 1979. We learn about the horrors that took place there, visit a large memorial to the 17,000 Cambodians who died at the site.
Next is a journey across to Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, a former high school used as a security prison known as S-21. An estimated 20,000 people were imprisoned at Tuol Sleng and it was one of 150–196 torture & execution centres. The afternoon sees us back at the hotel to unwind. Our hotel has a great rooftop pool.
